Galpin Auto Sports (GAS) has announced that it will head to this year?s Pebble Beach Concours d?Eleganace event with a 1,000-hp?Ford GTR1.
Based on the Ford GT, the GTR1 is Galpin?s ?interpretation of what the GT may have looked and performed like had it continued its evolution.? The 1,000-hp machine will debut at the Quail Lodge and GAS announced that the GTR1 will be produced but in ?extremely limited? quantities. GAS is probably using the event to gauge consumer interest on its highly-customized vehicle.
The GTR1 will be powered by a twin-turbo 5.4-liter V8 and will have a top speed of 225 mph. The body has been handcrafted from aluminum and has been widened five inches compared to the stock Ford GT. Other modifications include 20-inch wheels, Pirelli P-Zero tires, six-piston brakes with carbon rotors, jeweled headlights and taillights, and carbon fiber accents.
Inside, there?s a machined aluminum instrument cluster, a McIntosh stereo, leather-trimmed seats, dash, door panels, and headliner. Galpin also announced that buyers will have a choice between aluminum or carbon fiber bodies.
