Take 5 with AFME Executive Producers Ivan Wiener and Lainie S ...

With?a small selection of films with relevance to local issues by New Mexico filmmakers

The two are ringing in the Albuquerque Film and Media Experience this month, packed with indie films, satellite events and guests like Robert Redford, Sibylle Szaggars-Redford, and Giancarlo Esposito.

Albuquerque ARTSABQ A&E: We applaud your idea of keeping Albuquerque on the film and TV map globally. How excited are you about the prospect of this long-planned event coming to fruition?
Ivan Wiener: Not only are we excited about the event coming to fruition in such an honoring way for everyone, we are proud of our community members who are volunteering, sponsoring, buying tickets and promoting movies, panels and events to everyone in their network. This is a very big event for the City of Albuquerque and the State of New Mexico.?As a community, we have an opportunity to make magic happen with the Redfords and everyone else involved with AFME.?Collectively, we have a chance to shine on a worldwide level.

ABQ A&E: How did you attract the attention of Redford, Esposito and other special guests? ?Lainie S. Quirk: So many synergies have occurred in producing AFME which have led to many significant partners, celebrities, film and gatherings to align. We have been fortunate to have established relationships in the Hollywood community. For many years we have both owned Celebrity Concierge businesses where we take care of high profile figures in a variety of capacities. AFME?s parent company, Trimecca Agency, LLC is this company now as a result of our businesses merging. Mr. and Mrs. Redford have been clients and friends of Lainie and Giancarlo Esposito has been a client and friend of Ivan. We are so honored that the opportunity to come together and share these relationships is unfolding and where we can collectively share in expressing everyone?s art and film passions, coupled with the love of New Mexico into its final form, The Albuquerque Film & Media Experience.?

ABQ A&E: How do you see the AFME momentum continuing past June?
Wiener: Trimecca, LLC and Albuquerque Film & Media Experience will offer year round programming and events that promote the June experience.? We are already in discussions to present monthly classic movies and bring in talent from that movie for the community to enjoy.? We will also continue to create year round opportunities with charitable organizations through AFME events.?

ABQ A&E: And past this year?
Wiener: We are already in the initial planning phases for AFME 2014 and 2015.?There are many local, national and international sponsors who support our collective vision. We expect AFME to grow exponentially year after year while focusing on economic impact for the city and state and providing the opportunity for everyone involved to co-create into the future no matter what their art form.??

Albuquerque ARTSABQ A&E: Why are you calling this event ?socially conscious?? Are you referring to the subject matter of the films?
Quirk: The platform for AFME is to celebrate the oneness through the power of film. Film is the one medium that connects everyone, whether you?re in a small village of India, in the isles of Trinidad or in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We believe it?s this consciousness of film, and the universal celebration of the arts, that unites people. We?ve really embraced the films in our line-up that have an impactful message, leaving the viewers to really think about how they can make a difference in their own lives and communities. Whilethere are a few put in here or there that are simply entertaining, it will be clear overall that the movies and shorts will allow one to ask what they can do to be part of the solutions that face so many parts of our planet ? the earth, the water, the food supply, issues in race, drugs, rape, bee loss, alien abduction theories, genocide, and global issues of war, and so much more. We also celebrate the beautiful arts ? music, dance, comedy, poetry, painting, romance. There will be films for everyone and we?re excited at the roster we?re presenting.

The films below will be presented during AFME and represent a small selection made by New Mexico filmmakers or that have relevance to local issues. For a full schedule and to purchase AFME passes, go to: Abqfilmexperience.com
